Costa Rica’s public universities run their own media: a weekly paper, a TV channel, several radio stations and news sites. They give room to research, science, culture and social issues. This guide presents the ones we verified in the directory, by university. On October 30, 2026, we checked that all of them are active. They publish in Spanish.

Universidad de Costa Rica (UCR)
- Semanario Universidad: UCR’s weekly, with investigations, politics, culture and social issues.
- Quince UCR: the university’s TV channel, with a live stream on its site.
- Radioemisoras UCR: Radio Universidad, Radio U and Radio 870 UCR, with a live player on its site.
- Noticias UCR: the university’s news site.
Universidad Nacional (UNA)
UNA Comunica is the news site of the Universidad Nacional, based in Heredia. See the guide to Heredia media.
Tecnológico de Costa Rica (TEC)
Hoy en el TEC publishes the news of the Tecnológico, whose main campus is in Cartago. See the guide to Cartago media.
