Cartago has several outlets dedicated to the province and its cantons, from digital newspapers more than a decade old to online radio. This guide presents the ones we verified in the directory of Cartago media, with what each says about itself on its official site.
Digital media
Cartago Actual
Cartago Actual presents itself as “the digital newspaper of the people of Cartago”. According to its site, it has reported since 2005 with the aim of connecting the province’s communities, and its digital version adds breaking news and citizen participation.
AM Prensa
AM Prensa has published news from Costa Rica and the world since 2015, with its own section for Cartago, “Cartago Informa”, as well as crime, national news, sports and politics. It is a good option for following provincial and national news in one place.
Cartago Medios
Cartago Medios brings news, digital radio, sports and entertainment together on one site. It includes Noti3 Cartago, with news and sponsored reports; Guarco Radio, a digital station on the air 24 hours a day; sports coverage and broadcasts; and the cultural program “La Casa del Tico”.
University outlet
Hoy en el TEC is the news site of the Tecnológico de Costa Rica, whose main campus is in Cartago. It publishes the university’s news.

For businesses and organizations
If your news or your business is in Cartago, these outlets reach your audience directly. Before writing to them, read how to send a press release in Costa Rica, and if you plan to advertise, see how much advertising costs. AM Prensa and Cartago Medios have advertising pages on their sites; ask the others for their rates directly. All of them publish in Spanish.
