Media in the Southern Zone: Pérez Zeledón, Buenos Aires, Osa and Golfito

The Southern Zone, or Brunca Region, runs from Pérez Zeledón, in San José, to the Puntarenas cantons of Buenos Aires, Osa, Golfito, Corredores and Coto Brus. The two regional outlets we verified in the directory operate from Pérez Zeledón. This guide presents what each says about itself on its official site.

Digital outlet: PZ Actual

PZ Actual publishes news from Pérez Zeledón, the Southern Zone and the Central Pacific: crime, road conditions, community life and regional reports. It organizes its coverage by canton, with sections for Pérez Zeledón, Buenos Aires, Osa, Golfito, Corredores, Coto Brus and Puerto Jiménez, plus the Central Pacific and national news.

Television: TV Sur Canal 14

TV Sur · Canal 14 is Pérez Zeledón’s regional TV channel and says it has spent “more than 17 years” reporting on what happens in the Southern Zone. Its site publishes the region’s daily news and videos of its broadcasts.

For businesses and organizations

If your news or your business is in the Southern Zone, these outlets reach your audience directly. Before writing to them, read how to send a press release in Costa Rica, and if you plan to advertise, see how much advertising costs. Regional outlets don’t always publish their rates: ask them directly. Both publish in Spanish.
