Heredia has its own newspapers dedicated to what happens in its cantons, plus the news outlet of the Universidad Nacional, which is based in the province. This guide presents the ones we verified in the directory of Heredia media, with what each says about itself on its official site.
Newspapers
Heredia Hoy
Heredia Hoy defines itself as a regional outlet whose mission is “to offer the best information for the people of Heredia about what happens in the province and the world”. It publishes crime, municipal and community news, entrepreneurship, education, health and sports, plus sections such as “Rincón Herediano” and a literary column.
Velero Informativo
Velero Informativo presents itself as “Heredia’s newspaper”. It combines provincial and national news with sections on culture, education and “Visión Empresarial” (business), and keeps a print edition in addition to its site.
University outlet
UNA Comunica is the news site of the Universidad Nacional (UNA), based in Heredia. It publishes the university’s news, with an archive organized by year.
Sarapiquí
The canton of Sarapiquí, although it belongs to Heredia, is part of the Northern Zone, and is covered by outlets such as San Carlos Digital and La Región. See the guide to Northern Zone media.

For businesses and organizations
If your news or your business is in Heredia, these outlets reach your audience directly. Before writing to them, read how to send a press release in Costa Rica, and if you plan to advertise, see how much advertising costs. Heredia Hoy and Velero Informativo have advertising sections on their sites. All of them publish in Spanish.
Is a Heredia outlet missing? Write to hola@costaricamedios.cr with its official site; we add it after checking that it is active. See also the guides to Cartago and Limón.
