Live religious programming in Costa Rica: TV, radio and online

Costa Rica is a country of many beliefs. For those who can’t attend in person, because of illness, distance or work, or who simply prefer to follow a service from home, several outlets broadcast live religious programming. This guide gathers the options each outlet or community publishes on its official site, with no preference for any tradition. Within each section, outlets appear in alphabetical order. Broadcasts are in Spanish.

Television

  • Enlace TV: a Christian TV channel with preaching programs. Its live stream is at enlace.org.
  • San José TV: the channel of the Archdiocese of San José (Catholic Church) broadcasts Masses and rosaries live. Watch it from radiofides.co.cr.
  • Teletica · Canal 7: airs “En vivo: Santa Misa” (Catholic) on Sundays from 4:59 to 5:55 p.m., according to the program’s page.

Radio

  • Faro del Caribe: Christian radio on 97.1 FM and 1080 AM, with a live stream on its site.
  • HIT La Radio: online Christian music radio, on the air 24 hours a day.
  • Radio Fides: the Catholic station of the Archdiocese of San José on 93.1 FM, with religious programming 24 hours a day.

Online and social media

Many churches, congregations and communities of every tradition stream their services on Facebook, YouTube or Zoom, especially on their main meeting days and on important dates. Two examples with an official channel:

  • The Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, in Cartago (Catholic), streams some special celebrations on its YouTube channel.
  • Enlace TV also publishes its preaching videos on its site.

The surest way to find your own community’s broadcast is to look up its official page or ask directly.

Other traditions

Costa Rica has communities of many other religious and spiritual traditions. When preparing this guide we found no live broadcasts published by them on official sites, so we don’t include them. Their activities tend to be in person; for example, Casa Zen de Costa Rica, in Santo Tomás de Heredia, offers Zen meditation.

Tips

  • Confirm the schedule on the day. Programming changes with special events and holidays.
  • Without internet, radio is the simplest option: tune in to the station’s frequency.
  • Prefer official channels of each community or outlet over copies uploaded by third parties.
