How to listen to Costa Rican radio and watch Costa Rican TV from abroad

Living outside Costa Rica and missing your usual radio station or the evening news? Almost every outlet in the country streams live online from its official site, so you can listen and watch from any country with a connection. This guide gathers where to find each live stream, with the links we checked on the official sites. Broadcasts are in Spanish.

What may not work from abroad

  • Matches and movies. Some programs have broadcast rights limited to the country and may not be available online or from abroad.
  • FUTV is a cable channel: its site publishes the schedule but no free live stream.
  • Third-party pages that claim to stream Costa Rican channels often carry misleading ads. Always use the official site.

Costa Rica time

Costa Rica is on UTC−6 all year: it does not change its clocks in summer. If you live in a country that does, the time difference with Costa Rica changes with the season. Check the time before looking for a live program, such as Sunday Mass or the evening news.

News to read from abroad

If you prefer to read, the digital news sites and the newspapers of Costa Rica publish everything online. For news from your region, see the complete media guide, with a guide for each province.
